Late last fall, I wrote about cheap fat bikes and drooled over an out-of-sight option from Borealis, an ugly option from Bikes Direct and Motobecane, and ultimately decided the SE Bikes F@E (get it — fah-at-ee) was the best non-hideous, non-expensive option.

And that bike sold out.

So here were are again. The F@E was $700. It’s gone.

There’s a new out-of-sight Borealis. It’s $7,400. Seven thousand four hundred dollars. Save a bit more and you could get a Kia.

And there’s a new balanced option worth a look. The Framed Minnesota 2.0 fat bike.

Yeah, $900 is more than $700. But for the extra $200, you get … less actually. Maybe a pound+ less.

But the most important thing is that you can buy it. It’s not out-of-stock. It’s in-stock and ready to ship.

Want something cheaper? Try the Motobecane Fantom FB4 Comp.

No fugly curves like the Boris, just a solid and cheap fat bike. But there aren’t many sizes in stock. Did I mention the Framed Minnesota 2.0?
